Mission Statement
The goal of the Wisconsin Pastel Artists (WPA) is to promote appreciation of the unique qualities of pastel as a medium, and to encourage and develop artists both artistically and professionally through workshops, exhibitions, meetings, and critiques.

From the president of the Wisconsin Pastel Artists:

In keeping with our mission to provide workshops, demonstrations, critiques, and exhibitions, we work to present the highest quality experiences for our membership.

We have some exciting new events coming up soon:

" -Our next meeting, Wednesday, November 13th, features a critique conducted by a nationally recognized pastel artist Colette Odya-Smith. " Members can bring their work to our meeting and have it critiqued by Colette. http://coletteodya.smith.net

" " -We are excited to announce a two day workshop with Colette Friday and Saturday, February 7-8. The price is very reasonable and open to members only. This workshop is limited to 12 participants.

" -WPA has been invited to exhibit at the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) in West Bend. This is a juried exhibit and you must be a member to enter. "(The deadline for entering is coming up soon, Nov. 17. If you are interested in this, please let me know and I can forward the prospectus to you.)

" -January's meeting features a demonstration by local artist Beki Borman. http:// www.bekiborman.com

Membership in the WPA also includes membership in the International Association of Pastel Artists (IAPS).
Most importantly, we offer the opportunity to meet regularly with other artists who share your interest in pastels.
All our activities are geared for established pastel artists as well as those interested in discovering the possibilities this medium offers.

As a member, you will be able to take part in all these opportunities.

If you are not a member we invite you to join us at any of our membership meetings. Membership meetings are the second Wednesday of January, March, May, September, and November. Our next meeting is this Wednesday, November 13th. We meet at Artist and Display, 9015 W. Burleigh St, Milwaukee. 6:30-8:15 PM.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me anytime.

President's Letter 1/7/13 on Upcoming Membership Meeting

Hello Wisconsin Pastel Artists,

This message is a reminder we have our first membership meeting of 2013 this Wednesday, January 9th @ Artist and Display, 6:30-8:15.
We do have some items of business to discuss including our upcoming spring show and a possible new format with the goal of encouraging more membership participation in exhibits.
We also would like to encourage larger turnout at our bimonthly meetings.
The board will looking for feedback on our recommendations and welcome your opinions and ideas. We would also ask that you contact members and friends and encourage them to attend the meetings.

We have a lot to offer as an organization but if we are not fulfilling your needs as either an experienced or beginning pastelist we are very interested in hearing from you.
Our goal is to continue to make this organization an asset to our members as you pursue your goals as a pastel artist. A strong membership across the spectrum is beneficial for all.

This meeting features a demonstration by Pat King titled "Sparking Creativity" and includes participation.
In the interest of time, we will attempt to keep our business discussion short to allow as much time for Pat's demonstration and activity as possible.

Hope to see everyone there,
Chris Behrs
WPA president
